Imams and Islamic Scholars the world over are doing a tremendous and most rewarding job but are not being shown true appreciation or being paid their full worth. It is extremely sad and shocking to see that our Imams and Scholars are being abused and not being treated fairly. As Muslims we strongly believe that Islamic Scholars should be at the height of all professions and we aim to put this right. They are not merely doing a ‘job’ but spreading the word and teachings of Islam throughout the world. When Imams are paid less than their due then this will undoubtedly have a major impact on their teachings and their home life. Being an Imam should not be looked down upon but unfortunately this is becoming the case in places like Pakistan. The current state in Pakistan is such that most Mosque committees are unable to pay their Imams and they are forced to rely on collections from locals. This usually amounts to approximately 700 Rupees per week (less than £7 a week).
We have many charities which benefit students and orphans but all is forgotten about the teachers. If the Imams are incapable of teaching then what benefit is there in pouring funds into student sponsorships? We are launching a special appeal in Pakistan called – ‘Sponsor a Scholar’ where we endeavour to pay a minimum of £50 per month to each scholar. Our aim is to cover Pakistan initially and then move to the African regions. The Sponsor-a-Scholar project is your chance to enlighten and illuminate the spread of Islamic knowledge by valuing and supporting this humble initiative. Your support for this often neglected project will not only benefit hundreds of thousands of students but will also preserve quality and the true spirit of Islam for generations to come. Funds will be used to:- Establish fundamental teachings of Islam (Fard Ul-Ain*) to those areas where it is most needed Set-up standards and appropriate vetting of Islamic Scholars (whom we will support and work closely with) Ensure consistent living expenses are met regularly (in order for them to fully concentrate teaching the masses Fard Ul-Ain) *Fard Ul-Ain is compulsory basic knowledge that every Muslim must be aware of and practice, i.e. basic Aqeeda & Fiqh. With just £50 a month you will be supporting our scholars and their local communities with the much needed knowledge and understanding of Islam that these remote and rural areas are in desperate need of. We are already operational in Pakistan and will vet Madrassa’s and Scholars prior to any commitment. We aim to support the Madrassa’s as well as the Imams. Please donate generously to this most rewarding cause.
