The hospital will be available free of charge to approximately 15,000 people Insha-Allah, who are mostly labourers and earn less than £2 a day.  The main reason for the building of the hospital in this region was that many people who live in this locality are very poor and earn 150 to 200 rupees a day and can barely afford food and clothing needs for their large families, let alone hospital treatment.

When a member of the family becomes ill or is injured in an accident then proper healthcare is out of the question. The family suffers even further when the main breadwinner falls ill.
Our ability to see is something which we couldn't imagine being  without yet there are some who lack this most basic ability. Often the solution is just a pair of glasses or a cataract removal operation yet with the ability to afford diagnosis or treatment the matter just gets left unresolved.
We have set up eye camps in many rural areas to assist people to be seen by a qualified optometrist for eyesight conditions. We provide people with glasses who need them and operate on those who need an operation.
Ambulances are fundamental to effective healthcare. In case of medical emergencies when people need emergency care and medical monitoring, a fast and immediate journey to a nearby hospital or medical clinic is a must.
We aim to have 1 ambulance for our hospital to help people in the area to get quick assistance to the hospital.  We also aim to provide ambulances to those hospitals which don't have ambulance service for patients.
Dispensary is a small outpatient health facility, providing the most basic primary healthcare services to rural communities. We are aiming to set up dispensaries in rural areas for poor and needy people who cannot afford to travel to hospitals located in far-off cities.
The set up cost of a dispensary is approximately £3000 including one year running cost. It covers a basic healthcare workers wages, rent of the building and medicine for the whole year.
One of the main illnesses in Pakistan is Hepatitis, for which we are running awareness programmes and distributing vaccination packs to poor and needy people in rural areas. Unfortunately, many people in Pakistan die from this illness due to very expensive treatment.

30 to 40 injections are given at a time

The other reason for the hospital is maternity care and delivery of babies. This is a huge problem all over Pakistan, especially in rural areas, where there is no or expensive health care during this joyous time.  Most of us when expecting a child have a very enjoyable time and are very excited about the coming of our child. These people are also very excited about the coming of their child but something that over shadows their happiness is the financial aspect of the delivery of their child and adequate help during and after the pregnancy. They simply cannot afford the delivery charges whether it is a simple or complicated delivery.  Sometimes the father has to borrow money and be in debt for many years to pay off for the charges of delivery etc.

Sometimes the child or mother or sometimes both die during delivery as inadequate medical care is rife.  These deaths can be avoided by providing basic and good medical facilities to these people. There has also been reporting’s of many instances where lady doctors have operated on women even though this could have been avoided (meaning when they could have done a normal delivery they would operate on her so that they could make more money).  We believe this is a big crime on humanity and believe that this hospital could help in solving this problem by only operating on those women who genuinely need to be operated on and offer this service free of charge to everyone.

We have started building the hospital and have erected the building which is 10,000 sq ft. We have decided to build it in phases.  Our immediate aim is to open one wing of the hospital soon after Eid ul Fitar 2010, so that locals can start benefitting from its services, insh’Allah. We would require £10,000 to furnish this section and a further £10,000 will be needed to obtain the basic equipment to start the hospital. We anticipate recurring running costs would be in the region of £4000 per calendar month. We have donors who are willing to pay per month for the running of the hospital Insha-Allah.
